Trip to Cosley Zoo (originally posted on 10/2/07)

Last week before I left for N. Carolina, Noni and I took a little trip into Wheaton to the Cosley Zoo. It was a trip down memory lane for me in more ways than one. The Cosley Zoo has been in Wheaton since I was a kid and I have fond memories of going there to see the animals and explore the old red caboose car that is parked there permanently. Brady and Avery also took several trips with us to Cosley when they were little, so I was excited to introduce Nora to the 'free animal zoo'. We saw lots of farm animals, deer, buzzards, a huge coyote, and Nora's favorite - bunnies. They have the hugest bunnies I have ever seen in an outside open pen, which small mischevious children could easily climb into. Fortunately, I caught Nora as she was contemplating how to throw her leg over the wall and get in with the bunnies. She also enjoyed the giant bull frogs and big snakes (yuck).
P.S. Nora does have other clothes besides the watermelon shirt, plaid shorts and blue sun hat. We just seem to do all our picture taking when she is wearing this outfit! :)
"Is that a horse, Mommy? Can I touch it?" There are big signs on all the horse corrals that say "I bite". He seemed friendly to us, though.
Nora checks out the bunnies.

This is one of the bunnies we saw, but not the BIG one who was sleeping peacefully inside a large log.

Nora explores the caboose. I think she was hoping for a real train ride. Maybe next time...
